What is this competition about?

Invest in Environmental Protection

Be a part of the Earth Day movement started six decades ago on 22 April 1970. This annual event grew from street demonstrations in USA, giving voice to environmental consciousness to become a global effort involving 190 countries and 1 billion individuals.

We have long enjoyed the treasures of our planet and the time has now come for us invest in environmental protection. Time to preserve Earth's fragile beauty for our children and protect their health, livelihoods and future families.

CJS Revitalises Jewellery for Environmental Protection

Jewellery artisans and designers in CJS play our part in environmental protection through this competition, launching on Earth Day 2022.

Our jewellery artisans and designers have always been refurbishing jewellery treasures loved, but in need of some modernization (think of grandmother's old ring you have been gifted). Our sustainability interest was further enhanced during a “Sparkle New Joy” Upcycled jewellery themed pop-up at Takashimaya department store in 2019 and our first recycled jewellery competition called "Pre-Loved to Treasure" in 2020. What fun we had creating new pieces from pre-loved items!

This year we wish to take this concept even further as an expanded competition!

The key objective is to encourage designers to go green and to think ‘out-of-the-box’ by using more sustainable materials through re-use and repurpose, instead of using new materials from mother earth in their creation.

Join us for an exciting jewellery design and fabrication competition - and take a chance in winning and selling your repurposed, upcycled, recycled and reimagined jewellery creations at a special exhibition month of September!

CJS will organise an exhibition and sales event at our studio where 10% of the sales proceeds from submitted designers’ up-cycled and repurposed jewellery pieces will be donated to environmental charity.  CJS members are also invited to bring in additional upcycled pieces for the Exhibition.

Participants of the competition stand a chance to win CJS memberships and other exciting prizes. CJS also reserves the right to purchase the winning entries for exhibition and sales at our studio.

Get inspired by the winners of 2020 "Pre-Loved to Treasure" Competition.

Competition Environmental Partner
