In this advanced metal clay fabrication module you will learn:
This short course is a module of the JDMIS Advanced Certificate in Jewellery Fabrication using Metal Clay. For information about how this course fits into a complete jewellery education, visit our Continuing Education Roadmap
  • With fine silver bezel wire learn how to form the best shape setting to hold a gemstone which cannot be kiln-fired.
  • Understand the logistics of incorporating the bezel wire into the clay taking the clay shrinkage into account.
  • Achieve the bezel setting technique after the piece is fired securely setting the gem in place.
  • Learn yet another method of combining 999 or 925 silver parts with the metal clay before firing.

* This program includes all materials needed. Students may make use of classroom equipment during class and practice sessions.

This advanced module has prerequisites - it is only open to graduates having completed the Foundation Certificate in Jewellery Fabrication using Metal Clay.
