* This program includes all the tools and equipment needed as well as natural minerals, freshwater pearls and manmade materials including Swarovski crystals and pearls. Different types of threads in a variety of sizes, specialized wires in head and eye pin forms of half hard and dead soft quality are also all provided throughout the program.
Course Synopsis: Designed for those who have an interest in creating fine jewellery, this professional course delivers information and techniques at a fast pace and focuses on correct methodology and durable design. Portable equipment, supplies and tools lead to effortless practice and excellent results in record time. Numerous fabrication and design tips enlighten the novice to develop into a creative jewellery designer with unlimited possibilities ahead. Students begin with an understanding of materials and tools used by professionals to create lasting jewellery using stringing, wirework and weaving techniques; then use these to produce a wide range of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more. Designers discover how and when to use bead wire, silk, hybrid, and synthetic thread, learn a variety of specialized attachments to clasps, ‘endless necklace’ fabrication methods and design styles. Students learn the variety of metals that jewellery designers can work with and how these affect the ease of use, durability and comfort of the pieces they will create. For designers that enjoy intricate patterns and extravagant creations, flat, three-dimensional and flexible weaving techniques are perfected in many different styles.
